As soon as the school year ended, we drove to Santa Fe to visit family, which we try to do every year, stopping a few different places on the way. Then Niko and Mom took a girls’ trip to London, where they saw a lot of beautiful gardens. Mom and Dad used to live in London and Niko was born there, so it was really nice to go back and see old friends. So we haven’t had quite as much time to garden as we would have liked, but when we are home, we’ve been working hard, and there’s been so much going on!
The alliums bloomed and they are so fun, they remind us of something from a Dr. Seuss book. Mom decided to order a whole bunch more for next year.
The oriental poppies that we planted in front of the art studio have these huge fuzzy buds that look like a creature from another planet:
And then they burst open into the most vibrant red flowers…
They are almost as tall as Niko!
The cottage garden out front has grown a lot, and is looking really cheerful:
The ‘Southern Charm’ mullein is so tall and delicate:
We planted wildflowers and Liatris alongside the driveway, and we love the way the purple spikes look next to the colorful sprinkle of wildflowers:
Morning glory can be invasive and take over if you plant it in the ground, so we thought it would be best to keep it in pots. This was our first time growing it and we were so happy that we successfully grew it from seeds! Mom wanted to try to get it to climb up the posts on the front porch and we really like how it looks:
The irises are looking good this year, they are one of Niko’s favorite flowers (Niko says you really can’t choose just one flower to be your favorite, there are so many amazing ones!)
We soaked in one of our favorite times in the garden, when the peonies bloomed:

We hope you are all enjoying your summer so far!
